I recently hiked Millard Canyon in Altadena, and took my camera with me. This place is special to me because in 5th grade, our class took a field trip up to Eaton Canyon and Millard Canyon, where we immersed ourselves in nature, and to this day, remains one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I can recall the hike across the stream and coming across some baby quails. Some other classes saw deer (I was hoping to see some, but the baby quails were still pretty cool). My favorite part was having lunch by the stream, and ending the hike at a nice little waterfall. I was looking forward to hiking the same trail again, but was stopped short by a barricade at the base of the trail. The recent Station Fire had rendered the area unsafe, and hiking is prohibited up the trail until the wildlife rejuvenates. Kind of a bummer, but we were able to hike around the other areas, which were nice, and we finished our hike with lunch by the stream! It is a real easy hike - no more than 2 miles or so. If you're interested in a nice little outdoor exercise, and getting in tuned with Nature, be sure to check out Millard Canyon!
